Tarek M. Zeid, P.E., PLLC is a structural engineering firm based in New York City. The company specializes in the design of building structures of various types and uses.
Throughout Tarek’s studies, he dreamed of becoming a structural engineer in the innovative city, New York City. At the beginning of his career, Tarek worked as a construction superintendent for five years. Throughout the years, he earned his license to become a Professional Engineer in New York City. As a Professional Engineer, Tarek became a plan examiner for the Department of Building in 1989.
In 2001, Tarek retired as Borough Commissioner for the Brooklyn and Staten Island Department of Buildings to venture out on his own. With over 40 years in the profession, Tarek brings experience from the private and public sector and has extensive knowledge of the New York City Building Code and Zoning resolution.
As a structural engineer, Tarek works with different materials such as reinforced concrete, reinforced steel and prestressed and post-tensioning concrete to design a stabilized building. Every year, he attends annual conferences and conventions that cover the latest techniques and material technology to enhance design methods structurally. Furthermore, he is a dedicated member of American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Professional Engineers and American Institute of Steel Construction and American Concrete Institute.

Over the past 13 years, the practice has built a reputation amongst our clients and building professionals for innovative and cost-effective design solutions. Our services extend from conceptual studies through the completion of contract documents, shop drawing reviews, and on-site inspection of the construction.
The firm’s experience spans the full range of building types including an extensive portfolio in commercial, residential, religious, educational, including new buildings, alterations and adaptive reuse. Material and structural systems utilized in our projects encompass steel, concrete, precast concrete, post and pretension concrete, steel and composite concrete.
Acknowledged as a highly innovative firm, we approach all engineering commissions with the same underlying philosophy – to work closely with the client, other consultants and necessary agencies to develop the most creative engineering solution of the highest quality, on-time, and within the economic framework of the project.
